Chapter VIII - A
Almost 4500 Jews
were in our town and their surroundings on the eve of the explosion of WWII,
most of whom were later annihilated. Very few of the residents were war
volunteers and they were mobilized into the Red Army. Others escaped to the
forests and joined the partisans. Some escaped to Pruzhany and other places,
and later they were sent to extermination fields, such as Auschwitz. Some
escaped or were sent to the depths of the Soviet Union, and in spite of all the
sufferings they survived. These documented survivors (in the pages of this book
there is a description of some of the survivors) are listed below.
